Country Boy Serving The Lord
To all Christians part 54

Today i just thank God so much for answered prayers. What an amazing God we serve and yet that is still such an understatement. I want yall to know that God is truly working in my life and i pray that he is in yours to. So today i would like us to look at Luke 6:39-45. The KJV title this passage parable of the blind leading the blind its fitting and you can find this also in Matt. 7:3-5,16-18.

I just ask yall read the Scripture over and over. I will only say a few things today. This to me is coming from how can we be christian witnesses to the world if when we are trying to share the Gospel we call them out on their sins when there is obvious sin that is within our life. That’s it. that’s the words for today how can we share King Jesus with sinners if our lives are still reflecting the world. All we end up doing is saying you can stay in your sins and be a christian. We are called to die to our old selves and begin a new life with Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This is the simply but absolute truth CHRIST has called us to a new life one that will be forever changed and i tell you this today it will be the best and most amazing life that you can ever fathom until the day we see face to face with our creator in the place where Jesus went a prepared for you and for me.

May he transform your life from what it is to where it needs to be.

To all Christians part 53

The time is now for you to hear and today is the day for salvation. As we turn here into Luke 6:27-36. This is a piece of scripture that i have often had problems with. “but i say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you (27-28). How have we as Christians fulfilled this command by Christ. We haven’t. What are we to gain if we only love those who love us or do things for people that we shall expect something in return. That is what we are about and that’s what Christ preaches against in verses32-34.

This generation is lost. We have forgotten what it was to be true Christians. We have disrespected God’s commands. When someone does something that we disagree with we are the first to cast the first stone. But who are we to judge or to make that call. Whens the last time we have just stopped and prayed when someone did wrong to you. When is the last time we have given something without expected something. When is the last time we actually Loved like Christ has called us to, with the love he showed us while we were yet sinners he died for us.

verse 36 ” be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.” Let us have mercy again, let us have love in our hearts again, let us do good to others without expecting things in return. Let us give to those that are in need.

Its like this Christians if we don’t start living like the Holy Spirit lives within us then we will begin to see some harder times. We are a generation that has forgotten its First love. We love because he first loved us. What will it take for us to take a stand. He isn’t calling us to do something more that what he is willing to do with us. He is simply asking us to stand for the exact thing we believe in and that is the word of God. Well maybe you say that you are well i say try reading more. We can never completely be doing what we are suppose to that’s why Jesus died for us.

He has called us to love and i do believe when we start loving others as he loves us we will see results. But its time that we start for the longer we wait the more souls that are lost in HELL. who wants that responsibility of doing nothing while people are dying and going to HELL everyday. I don’t. Its a time and a call for action. Will you stand?

To all Christians part 52

Amen that my God is the Lord also of the sabbath. As we read within the verses of chapter 6 of Luke 1-5. Today i tell our Lord is not restricted by the law of the Pharisees. My God is the law. I am so thankful today that my God can do that of which is pleasing to him and is obedient for he does not lie. Jesus said in verse 5 ” that the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.” There are no restrictions to when my Lord will work, but to be honest he never stops working. If your a Christian you know that to be true for in my life i never feel him stop. I know that he is with me wherever i shall go, i know that i can call upon at any moment and he is there.

O how the Lord works isn’t it just amazing. To know that if he has a lost sheep that he needs to tend to he won’t just say it has to wait he is on it at that moment. But this is yet another scripture that goes back to yesterday with the old and the new. But this was yet just another one of the Pharisees laws not God’s law.

We as Christians need to realize here and completely live by is this. in verse 5 Christ is reminding us that all authority has been giving to the son who is one with the Father and the Father is well pleased with the son that he has sent.. ( Matt 11:27;28:18, John 10:30, Luke 3:22).

We often forget that Christ has all authority, so today are you struggling with something Christ is just a vocal cord away, he can help. We need to start living our lives knowing that Christ has all authority and that he sent the comforter into our lives as the Holy Spirit and that means the power is within us we just have to allow it to work. Do not quench but fan the flame. We need to start standing up when the world tells us that were wrong in Christ knowing other wise be reminded that Christ has all authority, stand up for him.

If your unsure of Christ ability to just call on him look on into verses 6-11 and see that Christ has the power we just need to tap into it and ask. We see that Christ will heal us whenever or wherever if it is according to his Righteous will for our lives. Today my cry is that we understand that Christ has the power and authority that we need to trust and obey him in that as well as live with that power for he lives within us.

I pray that us as Christians realize that when we live knowing we have the power of the Holy Spirit within us that Christians break out with this complete love of Christ that they begin to stand up for Him and a revival like none other breaks out. May it start with you.

May God bless you

But there is a difficulty about disagreeing with God. He is the source from which all your reasoning power comes: you could not be right and He wrong any more than a stream can rise higher than its own source. When you are arguing against Him you are arguing against the very power that makes you able to argue at all: it is like cutting off the branch you are sitting on.

To all Christians part 51

Today i want to  teach about Luke 5:36-39. This is a hard one for me for i want to go in a different direction than it is pointing to but at same time believe we can learn from these verses. It is talking here concerning the old and corrupt ways of the Pharisees and the ways in which Christ has called us to live. This goes directly back to the prior verses in Luke teaching on Fasting the we are not called to be as the Pharisees are.

This scripture gives us 3 illustrations that are very interesting to see. 1) A piece of new garment upon an old. They way this is described is once you have taken from the new you have ripped the new garment ruining it as well as allowing for the old to be torn again for it is worn.

       2) Putting new wine into old bottles. This is something new to me that i never knew until today. The process of putting the new wine into old wineskin’s or bottles is that the new wine is still fermenting and will end up bursting the old skins. Resulting in both the loss of the wine and the wineskin or bottle.

     3) After drinking old wine no one wants new. They would always say that the old was better no matter what.

Conclusion of these three things bring me that of which William Hendriksen stated “Not that Jesus offered something that was entirely new, in the sense that it amounted to rebellion against the very essence of Old Testament teaching: Love God above all….trust in him completely, exercise justice, mercy, and faithfulness. No, indeed! In that respect the teaching of Jesus was old in the best sense of the term.” Basically this we need to look toward Jesus for the way in which we live our lives. He has called us to follow Him and i see fit no other way that to read the word of God and look at his life as a model to us all as Christians.

What i was wanting to go with this scripture was simple this: When we as Christians have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior then we too want to put away the old. We can’t service with the old in us. We can’t straddle the line between the world and God. So here’s a salvation check. If your living within the old ways then you were never saved at all. I understand there are times that we trip up but a trip up is different than staying down and not getting up. The bible teaches us that once God has started a good work within you he will carry it on to the end. But like i said you have to of truly accepted him first and had the blood of Christ wash away your sins. You can be in the church or even call yourself a Christian this does not make you one. The actions within your life will be acknowledgment that you have surrendered to Christ and he has taken the old and given you the new.

May God truly bless you today.

To all Christians part 50

Today we will speak of a topic that is kinda like that one book on the shelf that just sits there and gets dust. Its one that may be mentioned but never really picked up. Today we will be looking at Luke 5:33-35.

”And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink? And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.”

Fasting, when is the last time you fasted alone or we fasted together. I believe this is a topic that is over looked in today’s Christians. The time i have actually fasted i have gained some amazing insight on what the Lord was willing in my life. The Pharisees were trying to catch Jesus making a mistake in fasting. But he clearly explains there is no need when he is right there with them for them to fast in things regarding that he can answer, etc.. But He said there will be a time where he will be going away and then will fasting be important.

I think we all need to be accountable to someone in fasting, that we should pick a day of the week and try to fast  or at least once a month. I mean we need God to reveal himself so powerful in so many different areas of this world and within our lives. We need to really take it serious and ask God to intervene in so many areas of life.

The thing is this Christians we are called to fast and yet you don’t ever hear of it anymore. I challenge you to look the word fast up in your bibles and see where it takes you and what you learn. I could do it for you but i want you to see it for yourself. There is so much power through fasting. Remember how Christ was tempted 3 times. Well that was prior to a 40 day fast. There are so many examples, but listen go into the fast not with the intentions of bragging or even telling others of it other than needed prayer during it. Go into It to seek out God and to hear his voice. I promise you if you continue the fast until God speaks to you it will be well worth it. Its a point in time saying that you live by every word of God and that his word can and will sustain you even through the hunger pains etc.

Its a challenge from me to you but a command from Christ to Christians to fast. Do it to know your God in a more intimate way and ask for him to reveal him to you.

I know today was not really a lesson or teaching but i pray that you see the importance of fasting. For a great deal of knowledge on the subject you may go to the website: www.elmertowns.com and click on his on-line books there is one or two completely dedicated to fasting. I pray that yall come to know Christ in a more intimate way today may he truly bless you.

To all Christians part 49

I know that its been a few days since i have sent out an email. But I’m ready to pick up where we left off in Luke. So lets take a look at Luke 5:1-11.  Today i want to talk about us as Christians in the thoughts of witnessing.

So have you have tried over and over to witness to someone but have no results or seems as if its a lost cause? Does it make you weary and want to give up?

Well i guess the same could come if you went fishing all day and didn’t catch anything. You would be frustrated and probably want to give up and never come back to that spot. But lets look at a lesson here in Luke that can hopefully shed light on these issues.

See what is going on here in Luke is that these fishermen had giving up on fishing for they have caught nothing and Jesus walks up and ask them to Simeon to put his boat out a short distance from land so Jesus could speak the word of God. After Jesus finished he asked Simon to cast his net out once  more. Simon answering said verse 5 ” master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at they word I will let down the net” verse 6 “And when they had this done, they in closed a great multitude of fishes…” they ended up filling both boats with fish. Amazing…

What am i getting out i take it yall may believe I’m just fishing around this subject but there is a point. So here goes. When we are witnessing to someone over and over. We may be like the fishermen and give up. But Jesus is saying to me in this passage don’t give up. The timing isn’t right but hang in their, Jesus tells me that he will come to that place and tell you to give it one more cast. He is saying continue to preach the word of God and when its time lives will be changed. But listen once again don’t give up for when we give up you may be losing the biggest catch of you life.

Often times i believe that i should give this email up. But its like when i feel like i might just throw it in someone emails back or someone talks about it to me in person. All kinds of different things and today i know now that i can’t give up God is telling me to hold on, and keep preaching the word of God and at the right moment he will ask me to cast out my net.

Are you willing to wait on God’s timing? Are you willing to be patient? God is saying to us just to press onward and keep our heads up. But the big part is that when he comes to us and ask us to cast our nets out that we obey. Verse 5 “……AT THY WORD I WILL LET DOWN THE NET.” They hadn’t caught anything all day but at God’s word they will follow.

You may feel as if your ministry or your witnessing is not catching anything. You may feel like me when i went fishing the other day. Was fishing for blue gill and catching turtles. But God is telling you not to give up keep up the good word.

    DON’T GIVE UP…..DON’T GIVE UP………………DON’T GIVE UP…….DON’T GIVE UP..

To all Christians part 48

I tell you what this power that is spoken of is simply amazing. Luke 4:31-37. Jesus was speaking in Capernaum. Verse 32 “And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power” AMEN. Every day that i read the word of God i am reminded of His power, and the beautiful part he lives within me. I have the power for the Holy Spirit lives within me. When we preach or even when we simply live our lives, we should live and preach in a way that our word is with power. People should know that whatever we do, we do in the Lord and because of the Lord.

How strong is this power, let us look at verse 33-34 ” and in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, saying, let us alone; what have we do to with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth: are though come to destroy us? I know thee who thou are; the Holy One of God.” The power is so strong the demons within a man cried out in fear of the word of Jesus. How can this power be applied to our lives today? You think if we spoke out in the power of the word of God that demons would be in fear? Do you think lives would be changed? I most certainly do. I know that when we speak boldly and powerfully from he word of God people will change.

verse 35 ” And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him and hurt him not.” Jesus reveals his greatness in this account by his powerful preaching. He also wants like said before for us to have this power in our preaching and day to day lives.

verse 36 stated they were all amazed. To many in my eyes Christ is yet just an experience and nothing more. He amazes people but its just experience. What the difference is that we have taken the experiences we have had and made them be our lives. We don’t need to hold to the teachings of Christ as mere experiences but rather as looking at them as Truth and allowing the to change our lives. See the people were amazed, so what. I don’t want people just to be amazed i want them to be changed by the Holy Spirit. And what does that take it takes the power of God’s word spoken from us and through our lives.

Today let God not just be an experience but a life changing event in your life. Today speak boldly of the word with the power of Christ and may you be be forever changed because of His grace.

Ross Campbell
